Trucks up close.

Some folks still don't completely trust vinyl. (good on 'em)

Concrete numbers and shameless plugs

This weekend the annual Come up to my Room event took place at the Gladstone hotel. One of the exhibitors, Dennis Lin had some really cool numbers on the wall of his exhibit (that were free for the taking) and had hidden written messages under each. I shot the numbers on my balcony.

And... shameless plug time.... many villatypers (Jenn, Anthony, John - the organizer and myself) created Canadian souvenirs for the Souvenir shop along with many other amazing designers and artists. It was a fantastic event and I was very grateful to be apart of it.

Canadian winter

I captured this one morning after a big snowfall. I guess the plow sprayed the side of the building as it went thrashing down Queen Street. Interesting how the snow mimicked the graffiti. I thought it was quite beautiful with the colours and the patterns mixing so well. Feels very Canadian.

The Canary Restaurant,

This place is just around the corner from the Distillery District, in down town Toronto. It's been quite a few movies. I used to drive past it regularly on my way to work, and it seemed as though there were always a film shoot going in front of it, or in it.

Glen Grove

Time and the weather can be cruel. I like the unintended and sometimes beautiful effects this deterioration can have on a design. The gold decoration above "Glen Grove" looks the way it does because the shiny metallic gold vinyl they used shrinks in the sun, pulls away from the adhesive, shrivels up like a dead flower, and - Viola!

Sagmeister book launch in NYC

Here are some photos (all taken by Anthony) from opening night of Things I have learned in my life so far:

Outside the show, amazing entrance

Inside the back room, a nice bookend to the entrance of the show

Amazing giant wall of bananas (and Jenn's head)

Massimo Vignelli in the steam room, how cool is that.

Here are some more photos from the event, and check out Joe with Vignelli!!! (2nd row down)
